Weymouth is also fast becoming the major yachting centre of the country with the forthcoming Olympics of 2012.

Lynwood Lodge is located off the A353, and is ideally suited to view the White Horse, and then walk along the coast path towards Lulworth (E) and Weymouth (w).

There are lots of attractions in the surrounding area such as Weymouth Sealife Centre, Abbotsbury sub-tropical gardens, swannery and Maize Maze, Monkey World, Hardy's Cottage and Tyneham Village to name but a few.

Weymouth is 4 miles by car and has a sandy beach, a harbour and very good nightlife. Dorchester with it's museums, market and other attractions is about 6 miles. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area.
View towards hills
View towards hills The south west coast path runs along the edge of the fields above the beaches with walks to Durdle Door and Lulworth to the east (via the Smugglers Inn at Osmington Mills), and Weymouth to the West (via the Oasis Cafe and the Spyglass pub at Overcombe).

Other pubs close by include the Sunray Inn in Osmington, the Spice Ship and Bridge Inn at Preston and the Springhead at Sutton Poyntz. Also in Preston can be found 2 fish and chip shops, Italian restaurant, local post office and convenience store.

The coastline forms part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, so fossil hunting is one more activity for the children (and adults).
